Zombies are great.
It isn't because they are shambling hordes of hostile teeth, jaws, nails and claws that tear people apart. (I guess some might consider it is because of that)
It is because they are an unstoppable enemy, and humanity seems to fear the unstoppable juggernaut much more than the beatable berserker style Lovecraftian beast or whatever.
I've had a Zombie game called Outbreak up for a shortwhile now, and I was wondering if anyone had seen it or was interested in playing it, I have one sign-up.
I was also wondering regarding the way it is set out. I had created this before I began to read World War Z by Max Brooks. The book has admitedly changed my whole outlook on the genre of Zombie Fiction and has shown me how foolish my previous games actually are.
So my second question is that if anyone isn't interested because of some part of the game itself, would you prefer me to change it? My new look on it is that without the (even rare) sentience of my current breed of undead, they can be potentially highly dangerous.
Please, i'd appreciate any comments or considerations you have to share on this subject.

Swung by, had a quick look. I'd say change it, also, if thats what you want to do, then change it, you'd have more fun that way.

Perhaps I should, however I don't want to dissuade people from playing the game because "zombies are to hard to kill". Traditionally in World War Z, they will only die from damage to the brain.

Just makes killing one all the more satisfying!

Makes it incredibly hard to kill the mass numbers that are required to be killed.
see Battle of Yonkers, Zombie War.

One word: FAIL.
Most of my zombie knowledge come from The Zombie Survival Guide. I think the game is fine, I just haven't had the time to finish my character sheet yet. It might not happen for a bit. I was hoping my start would get others to go too.

Would Napalm kill zombies?? Or just cook them??

I guess it all depends on how much damage it does to their brain.
Mmm skull melting.

Napalm and Thermobarics were proven ineffective at dealing with the Zombie enemy at the Battle of Yonkers, New York.
The use of molotov cocktails has been documented as a remedy to low ammunition stores. Flame weaponry requires a concerntrated effort to keep the zombie ablaze in order to cook the brain. This means their head needs to be aflame and their brain needs to be torched out.
That just isn't even close to being easy. However, like high-explosives, flame weapons can be used to damage zombies, slow them down, make them easier to pick off.

As my old papi used to say, who needs night vision when you can set them all on fire & let nature do the work for you?

As long as you don't mass create crawler armies!
Well... I guess in Australia it would be less treacherous than in other places, but crawler zombies are easily much worse than normal zombies.
Normal zombies have a bullseye you can clearly see. Crawlers are bitches that ambush you without even being capable of.

Australia would be fairly late in the onset, I mean, if it cropped up in say, Europe, Asia or the America's, then we could lock down the country and keep it out.

Besides, if they get a foothold on Australia we just swap countries with the Kiwis.
We'll just have to clear the sheep off first (Beware Black Sheep).

God, ignorant minds! It comes from China. Chinese migrant across the world on a massive daily basis. You have even one turn and they can infect another ten or fifteen before anyone can calm down and figure out what is happening. Authorities show up to find a massacre, when the corpses reanimate they slaughter the authorities who have also panicked considering they are staring at factual living dead.
By this point more and more infected are flooding into the country and we have no idea what it is. We declare a state of emergency too late on in the crisis due to lack of information. Eventually the response teams are overwhelmed and inundated by calls and reports of cannibalism, people coming back to life and other things you'd consider just prank-calls at first.
Finally the army is overwhelmed as populated areas are overrun, the tight urban environment causes more defeats than victories and finally we collapse into a shell of a society scraping together a living on the Blue Mountains.

Blue Mountains is a better natural defense. The Desert doesn't do shit to an army of Zacks, they'd just wander on through the sands and eventually fuck us up coming from all kinds of directions. However if we can bottleneck them in the mountain passes we focus their front into a easily manageable mountain-pass and drop the roads, they end up trying to crawl over the inhospitable mountains.
With the desert you have a scatter effect, with a mountain you have a focusing effect. You want to be able to maintain their front so you can keep an eye on them.

You need to get around to things sooner Drac. You are the number two cause of RP deaths in the realm! The first is lack of players.

I'll be joining eventually, when I get around to putting effort into my character sheet.
TsvitokSoldat
29th May 2009 - 06:35 PM
*sigh*
If you are going to take three months to do a character sheet you should have the best character sheet in the history of mankind.
Character Sheets are meaningless, the character is in the RP. Do a shit sheet and play properly, not the other way around.
Alucard

Fair enough, though lately the effort even required to make a shit sheet has been beyond me. let's see what I can do now then!

Some effort is better than no effort, particularly because it allows you to ensure games you want to play don't disappear.
If its a hectic life and you can come on here and tell us about it, its not preventing you from posting in RPs, and if you lack the effort to RP but can complain about your lack of effort, then you don't lack effort you need to post.
True story that.

Right, I just realised I never officially warned anyone that Outbreak has its first post so Alucard, Draconian and Lucifer you can start posting.
It is however not to late to sign up.
